With a career spanning over 40 years, John Williams is a renowned and respected chef. At The Ritz, he leads a brigade of over 60 chefs and is responsible for the exquisite menus in the Ritz Restaurant – which was awarded a Michelin Star in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2017, the Palm Court, The Rivoli Bar, Room Service, and the banqueting and private dining rooms.
John’s dedication to culinary excellence and the development of chefs has been widely recognised and the many accolades to his name include: a Pierre Taittinger International Award; a Craft Guild of Chefs Award; a Catey Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award; and a Tatler Restaurant Awards’ Lifetime Achievement. He was also the first British Chef to be conferred with a CMA (the equivalent of an MBE) by the French Government in 2005; was invited to the Worshipful Company of cooks as a full Liveryman in 2006; was given the Freedom of the city from Citizen and Cook of London in 2007; and in the same year was acknowledged by Le Conseil Magistral des Diciples D’Auguste Escoffier as a disciple of this distinguished order. In 2008, John was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honour List by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his services to hospitality.
