Additional speaker confirmed for Arena Summer Event

By Berenice, Thursday 24 May 2018

Chris Hill, the chief executive of New World Trading Company has joined the exciting speaker line-up for the Arena Summer Event 2018. Chris, whose restaurant and bar business’ employee engagement initiative has won a number of awards and helped it become the highest-rated hospitality company in The Sunday Times Best Companies To Work For 2018 (mid-sized companies) at seventh place, makes an excellent addition to the list of inspiring speakers.

The event will look at how attracting, developing, engaging and retaining great people is increasingly essential to a business’ success. It will explore the demands and expectations of today’s employees, and how leaders can harness these to create a stand-out, appealing people culture.

In addition to Chris Hill, the programme of thought-provoking speakers and panel discussion features:

  • Jonathan Raggett, Managing Director, Red Carnation Hotels:  With the workplace increasingly an extension of people’s values and beliefs, Jonathan will look at how to attract the best talent and the role culture plays in engaging employees.
  • Stephanie Hamilton, Head of People and Culture, ISS UK & Ireland:  Purpose and progression is high on the agenda of up-and-coming talent. Stephanie discusses the benefits of a clear development strategy for employees and employers alike.
  • Hazel Detsiny, Managing Director, Unilever Food Solutions: When others are looking to attract great people, Hazel considers how strong and inclusive leadership and communication can help retain talent, especially women.
  • Tevin Tobun, Managing Director, Gate Ventures: Hospitality may not have been the obvious choice for this graduate in medicine, but the entrepreneur has carved a successful career.  Tevin will give an insight into where he is now, how he got there and how he's inspiring young people to join our progressive industry.

There will also be an industry insight session that will consider ‘Market Confidence’, including the key challenges and opportunities ahead for operators and suppliers, and the impact of the soft drinks levy.
