Arena webinar: ‘Eating In vs Dining Out’ presents new research by the IGD

By Berenice, Monday 20 July 2020

On Tuesday 28 July 2020 at 2pm we are delighted to announce that Arena, together with Arena’s newest corporate member, the IGD, will bring you the results of new research - Eating In Vs Dining Out, which explores the impact of Covid-19, outlining four scenarios to help food retail and foodservice companies plan for the future.

In 2019, the split of consumer spend on food and drink was one third (36%) in foodservice and two thirds (64%) in retail. In 2020, COVID-19 and the resulting lockdown measures and closure of all non-essential shops, pubs, restaurants, and cafes, will have a dramatic impact on the balance of consumer spend in retail and foodservice.

The summary of the research being presented in this exclusive webinar explores the impact of COVID-19, outlining four scenarios to help food retail and foodservice companies plan for the future. The four scenarios entitled The Great Reset, The Decade of Drift, Technical Isolation and Globalisation Reversed addresses the possible path of the virus and performance of the economy; from a relatively manageable virus to multiple outbreaks, and an economic performance that quickly recovers to a hard-hit economy, slow to rebuild.

The Speakers

The research will be presented by IGD’s Nicola Knight, Senior Food-to-Go Analyst and Rhian Thomas, Head of Shopper Insight. Nicola has over twenty years of experience in the food service sector and Rhian has been working in research and insight roles for nearly fifteen years.

Why Attend?

COVID-19 has caused a monumental shift in consumers’ food and drink habits. The boundaries between eating at home and out-of-home, once blurred, have now broken down, resulting in unprecedented changes to supply and demand of food and drink in the UK.

If you are a supplier, foodservice or hospitality operator, this research will provide you with unique information to help you plan for the future.
